Pasto

On the way from Popayan to Pasto: Very mountainous and very pretty landscapes. Seven hours long bus ride, it feels like we arrived at the end of Colombia… People are different here – again. Seems they are more focused on Ecuador then for example Bogotá as the capital city. Colombia is so diverse in every way – from landscapes to people, and still:  they seem to feel some connection as Colombians. They speak again very different, says Lau, she used the word ’noble‘. It’s mainly about how they pronounce phrases, I still don’t hear that differences really…

Pasto has a some pretty spots, it’s pretty colorful. There is a big poverty, much bigger than for example Popayan, where we just came from, or at least it seems so. They eat guinea pig here. It’s up in the mountains, it’s cold. It’s another 500’000 people city. The taxistas have their wives with them in the taxis. There aren’t many good restaurants. We watched Aladdin (with Will Smith) dubbed in Spanish – they only show movies in original language on Tuesdays. Some of the Pastusos seem angry when they talk to you, but I think it’s more like how they are. I feel all the time in the center of attention. And Lau as well feels stared at all the time. For this reasons it actually feels far away from ‚home‘, from Bogotá.
