After 1,5 month travelling through the west indies, the islands in the eastern carribean we are back in Bogota. The climate on this islands arround this time a year is with arround 25 degrees really perfect. There are also not too many mosquitos. Too good to be true almost – apart of the fact that you are on really small islands which can make you feel trapped. It’s more of a head thing and I only realised it beeing back on mainland. Maybe it’s also just through the people, time is kind of conserved here, it’s just a subtle feeling of beeing in another time with different rules. It’s hard to put it into words also because we only spend about a week on each island. The people are mostly very friendly but there is also this roughness to it, which is very exiting and also a bit scary. Also through this ‚everyone knows everyone‘ reality of island with only 70’000 people there is a special dynamic to it, it lacks the anonymity of a big city like Bogota.
Bogota with arround the population of Switzerland has everything to offer: Art, culture, food, every kind of subculture. There is only one catch: It’s on 2600 something meters and at night it’s arround five degrees. It’s mostly cloudy and rainy and they usually don’t have heating! At daytime it’s arround 17 degrees all year round.
I decided to finally give my spanish a serious boost and to do some intensive classes for three weeks. So after serious chilling for six month i have to get up now everyday before eight, have a semi warm shower, and walk my twenty minutes through Chapinero. On the way I usually grab a fresh squized orange juice (66 cents) and have a local breakfast (typically with a soup with potatoes and a ugly piece of pork, eggs, a piece of bread and coffee – 2 dollars). I then sit in class with four other students till one o clock. On the way home I grab a perro caliente, an arepa or empanada, arround 1,5 dollars. At home I fall into bed and normally fall asleep totally exhausted right away. Later I do my homework and go for dinner. After that I go back to bed, cause I need to get up the next morning again. First time having a serious routine in a long time…
It’s nice beeing up so early in the morning and beeing part of the crowd with a task at hand. Beeing part of the system is very comforting! Maybe I am a herd animal after all. My innovative Swiss friend from school bought three heatings (I would never have thought of such a simple solution) and sold me one for 40 US. Great deal, and so much more life quality! Not having to wear a sweater in bed is great.
It’s semana santa and tomorrow, Wednesday, is the last day of school for this week. Finally a few days off of school. A long weekend coming up, yay!

Gratuliere zu Deinem Entscheid, die Sprache profund zu erlernen. Jede Sprache
ist meist eine grosse Büfflerei bis man die Grammatik intus hat. Auch das Vocabular
muss man üben.
