West colombia floods leave thousands homeless

On the quest for isolated, untouched beaches we found the pacific coast of colombia to be just that. There seem to be no roads to the coast except way further south in Buenaventura. So you can only get there by plane. No roads, often no water to shower, no electricity – or maybe for a few hours a day by generator: sounded just like the right thing. It is the region of Choco (marked yellow). Tatis mother then told us what she heard in the news, over 20T homeless to recent floods! Yes it is the rainy season here: http://colombiareports.com/tag/choco

As we are feeling more like lying on the beach, than helping rebuilding houses, it’s for now not the right place to go we figured.

Well so, it is going to be the other coast, the caribbean one, more touristy defintly. But so far colombia never felt overcrowded with gringos, so lets check it out. And it’s also on the way to the unknown carribean paradise, which I’d really like to discover, to replace some blanks with some actual senses of tastes, smells and feelings of interactions with people…

Yesterday we went to do some seightseeing arround Medellin, here some impressions of ‚el peñol‘ and the town of Guatapé:
